Kuro is the playable "hero" of Evoland 2, he was named by Fina shortly after he saved her from mushroom creatures.
Kuro woke up shortly after Fina's father found him in the forest and brought him back to his home. Kuro then woke up to see Fina watching him, and asked if he remembered anything, Kuro responded by not saying anything at all, and Fina assumed that he didn't.
It is truly unknown if Kuro really doesn't remember his past, since most people assume he doesn't due to the fact he's mute.
